Catechetical Programmes for First Confession and Holy Communion

Our parish programmes run from September to Easter (First Confession) then on until June (holy Communion). It is open to all children who will be celebrating their 8th/9th birthday during the run.

First Confession educates your child in the importance of our need to ask God our Father for the gift of forgiveness. It explores why Jesus died for all of us; what Jesus said about his desire to forgive us and how wrong-doing impacts on our relationship with God and our neighbour. It encourages how to show our true sorrow by undertaking acts of love each day for the healing of the wounds and hurts our sins create.

First Communion explores further why he died for us on the cross and the significance of sharing in Jesus' Last Supper; how he desires that we come together regularly as God family; to listen to and to remember his holy Word, discovering how his Word feeds us and how in the miracle of the mass he gives us himself in His Body and Blood. Its his gift to us so that we may have eternal life and share it with those we meet.
